  • Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s conviction also brought justice for Journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. Reportedly Ram Chander Chhatrapati was journalist who exposed the Gurmeet Ram Rahim rape case. He was journalist to newspaper “Poora Sacch”’.  Chhatrapati published an anonymous letter on 30th May 2002 giving details about how two sadhvis were sexually harassed by Dera’s chief at the Sirsa ashram. Ram Chander was shot at outside at his home on 24 October 2002 months after publication. His son Anshul is battling for justice to his father.The CBI’s special court in Panchkula who will pronounce quantum of sentence to Dera’s chief today, is also hearing murder case of journalist Chhatrapati. Hearing is in its final stage.
  • Finance Ministry said 21 PSU Banks taken loan recovery action against 5,954 wilful defaulters under SARFAESI Act. On Sunday Finance Ministry said in a collected data by PSU banks, 21 banks together have taken action against 5,954 wilful defaulter under SARFAESI Act at the end of 31 March 2017. According to the report 5,954 defaulters have outstanding loan of about Rs 70,000 crore to the PSU banks. Out of which SBI has taken action against 1444 defaulters having outstanding loan of Rs 20,943 crore. Loan recovery action under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act. Finance ministry data said a total outstanding loans of Rs 92,376 crore due to more than 8.915 wilful defaulters amounted. Gross NPA of the PSU banks rose to Rs 6.41 lakh crore at the end of March 2017.
  • UIDAI denied Wikileaks report of Aadhaar data snoop. UIDAI said system is secure and safe.
    On 24 August WikiLeaks published a report on its official website. Report claimed that US Intelligence agency CIA may have Aadhar data access. In the answer Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) clarifies that system is secure and Aadhar data is safe. Aadhaar system has stringent security features to prevent any unauthorised capture and transmission of data. As system has multi-level of protection mechanism. UIDAI refuted the WikiLeaks report. Unique Identification Authority of India said Aadhaar related biometric capture system has developed in India. It has adequate security feature mechanism to prevent any possibility of unauthorised access or transmission of data. Devices used to capture biometric data are also have security features to prevent unauthorized capture.
  • Sedition, attempt to murder charges slapped against seven persons including security men of Dera chief. Karambir Singh, Inspector, Panchkula Police on 27 August said “Sedition charge has been slapped against seven persons, including five Haryana police personnel. They had also been charged for attempt to murder.” The seven security personnel of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had allegedly tried to free him when he was brought outside the Panchkula Court complex on August 25, 2017 after the special CBI court convicted him.The Haryana Police personnel, who were arrested, were in the ranks of sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector, head constable and constable, he added. They were produced before the court on August 26, 2017 which sent them to a seven-day police remand, said Mr. Karambir Singh. The quantum of sentence to Dera’s Chief will be pronounced on 28 August.
