Panagariya resigned as the Niti Aayog Vice Chairman on 1st August 2017 after three years of work and return to his academic job at Columbia University, USA.
On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Arvind Panagariya for his leadership at NITI Aayog as vice chairman. Prime minister wished him the best of luck for his future. He was speaking at Niti Aayog’s “Champions of Change” program. PM Modi said the nation will remember Panagariya’s work at the organization.
Prime minister said “He lived in America for 45 years and had no intention of coming to India because his family also settled there. But on one call from me, he came and ran the Niti Aayog for three years. He joined the organization and took it to great heights and made significant contribution to set it apart from the Planning Commission.”
Love and dedication for India are not yet over for him. He is working for India in the different style with same dedication even today, even though Panagariya is returning to the USA.
He also said “There is no dearth of people like him in our country and it is only through their support that we are moving ahead with the dream of a New India by 2022,”
At last PM Modi said “I wish him the best. He has delivered top-notch work. The nation will remember him and his service.”
Arvind Panagariya (Born on September 30, 1952) is an Indian-American business analyst and an educator of financial matters at Columbia University, who has been filling in as bad habit executive of the legislature of India think-tank NITI Aayog from January 2015.
