UK Government opens all jobs to women in British Air Force regiment- Yesterday on September 1, UK Government has opened all types of jobs for women in British Air Force regiment. This is result of a landmark decision taken by the UK government last year. Last year UK Government had lifted the ban on women serving in combat roles in the British Army. It became first branch of the military to open every role to female service personnel.

In an announcement by Britain’s Royal Air Force (RAF) on Friday, it has opened all types of jobs to women for the first time. Last Year United Kingdom government has announced that serving women now can take equal stand as men in combat roles in the British Army. It was a landmark decision by the government.

Now women can apply to join ground-fighting forces in the Britain’s Royal Air Force Regiment. Royal Air Force Regiment has a team of about 2,000 strong personnel. Its main role is to patrol and protect RAF bases and airfields.

Last year David Cameron led government had lifted the ban from women fighting in combat roles.

In the Royal Armoured Corps, women have already been allowed to serve in close combat roles. But it will be another year before they can seek to enter the Royal Marines, where a tougher physical fitness needed.

UK Defence secretary Michael Fallon on Friday said “A diverse force is a more operationally effective force. Individuals who are capable of meeting the standards for the regiment will be given the opportunity to serve, regardless of their gender.”
